The Messenger
Make invisible problems visible. Graphic garments and posters carry environmental limits into everyday life. Not to instruct, but to be noticed.
Status and detailsSIRKULE
Doing less, on purpose.
Sirkule is a design practice that investigates the systems behind environmental damage and creates interventions through objects, materials, behavior, and energy. It works in four domains. Two are in practice today: The Messenger (garments and posters that make environmental limits visible) and Behavioral Friction (a pause at checkout). The other two, Material Alchemy and Energy Sovereign, are conditional and speculative.
Thesis
Air, water and soil do not stop at borders. Neither do consequences. We make things that make this visible, and we say plainly what we have not done yet.
Our way
You see the shirt, you read the story. What you do with it is yours.
Our research is shared the same way: results as found, errors included. If a result turns out wrong, we look for the cause, fix it, and try again.
Every piece comes with a story
Each project carries a short story behind its design. Some also come with audio. We don't tell you what to think, we only tell you what we noticed.
Plastic is convenient.
That's not an accusation.

What we do
Make invisible problems visible. Graphic garments and posters carry environmental limits into everyday life. Not to instruct, but to be noticed.
Status and detailsNot producing more. Interrupting faster. A pause at checkout asks what a purchase will replace, because restraint is also an action.
Status and detailsNot recycling. Rethinking what matter can become. We study post-use textiles and plastics as raw matter, without assuming the result is a product.
Status and detailsClosing the loop where transformation is no longer possible. A hypothetical end-state for residues that can no longer be reused.
Status and detailsStatus is stated as it is. Only the first two are in practice today.
How we make
We hold no stock. Every piece is produced after it is ordered, so nothing is made in advance and no unsold inventory is left to throw away.
We cannot yet verify the origin of every material, so we do not claim it.
